Xu Lyu

Xu Lyu is an incoming Master’s student in International and Development Economics at Yale University. She graduated from Wenzhou-Kean University with a BSc (Hons) in Economics, where she developed a strong interest in understanding how economic policies and social changes influence development outcomes. Her academic interests include development economics, environmental sustainability, and the role of institutions in promoting inclusive growth.

During her undergraduate studies, Xu gained research experience in areas including environmental governance, agricultural development, energy equity, and the digital economy. She has worked on empirical research projects using quantitative methods to explore how economic transformation and policy choices affect communities and livelihoods, particularly in the context of China’s development challenges. Beyond research, she has also been involved in student leadership and academic activities, including organizing economics-related workshops and research events. At Yale, Xu looks forward to learning from diverse perspectives, deepening her understanding of development economics, and exploring new ways to connect economic research with real-world policy challenges.
