Wei Leong Bryan Lim

Bryan is a Master of Arts student in International and Development Economics (IDE) at the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Prior to joining the IDE programme, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Waseda University in Japan. His academic interests lie at the intersection of development economics, labour economics, and public policy.

Bryan’s experience spans research, teaching, and policy-oriented work. During his undergraduate studies at Waseda University, he supported a research project analysing data on the adoption of induction cookstoves in Bhutan. Motivated by both economic theory and its real-world applications, he also served as a teaching assistant across multiple fields of economics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, and public economics. In addition, he has experience in Singapore’s public sector, including stints at the Economic Development Board and the Ministry of Education. Outside academia, Bryan enjoys travelling and getting in touch with nature. He is also passionate about learning new languages, which he sees as a way to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and deepen his understanding of different cultures.

Upon graduation, Bryan hopes to contribute to sustainable economic growth and job creation in Singapore and across the wider region as a public servant.
