Peter Karisa Mwamburi

Peter Karisa Mwamburi is a first-generation scholar from Kenya who holds an MA in Policy Economics from the Williams College Center for Development Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi. He currently serves as a Data Consultant with the World Bank Group, where he supports Brazil's Urban Team with data analysis and geospatial mapping.

His research interests lie at the intersection of labor economics, education, and human development. Specifically, he examines how education functions as a pathway into the labor market, shaping individual employment readiness, and explores strategies for narrowing the skills gap between job seekers and employers. Peter has published journal articles in the Accountant Journal and co-authored a paper on labor market skills gaps, which he has presented at various conferences and workshops, including the Labor Market Mismatch: Causes and Consequences (LM2C2) conference and the African Finance and Economics Association.

At Yale, Peter aims to further his research on human capital as a viable development strategy for countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, with the goal of strengthening their long-term economic resilience. Outside the classroom, he enjoys bowling.
