Kat Dewale

Kat Dewale is a graduate student in International and Development Economics at Yale University.

Following her receipt of a First-Class Honours degree in Economics at the University of Cambridge, she worked as an investment banker in the technology, media, and telecommunications sector, gaining transaction experience across both developed and emerging markets. Subsequently, she was selected for the University of Cambridge’s Clare Mellon Fellowship to study at Yale.

Kat’s research interests are at the intersection of development finance, digital inclusion, and social networks in developing countries, with a keen focus on the effects of digital transformation on interpersonal interactions and subsequent economic mobility. These themes derive from both her professional background and her undergraduate dissertation, in which she analysed the predictive power of personality traits for vertical labour mobility amongst low-skilled workers.

Outside academia, Kat is an avid inline skater. She also loves netball, travel, philosophy, and dance, and is a proud jungle music enthusiast.
