IDE Student

Julia Carol is a graduate student pursuing a M.A. in International and Development Economics at Yale University. Before joining Yale, she studied engineering at École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in France, specializing in economics with a minor in environmental science. As part of her academic training, she also completed an academic exchange at Imperial College London, where she studied civil and environmental engineering. Most recently, she took a gap year to gain professional experience through internships in economic research, public administration, and consulting.

Her academic interests center on development economics, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, political institutions, and inequalities. She aspires to pursue a Ph.D. in development economics, with the goal of measuring the impacts of climate change on development and identifying effective policy responses. In the long term, she aims to contribute to sustainable development initiatives within public institutions by promoting evidence-based policymaking.

Outside academics, she enjoys contemporary dance, volunteering in education, and visiting new places.
