Hongyu Wei

IDE Student

Hongyu Wei is a master’s student on the IDE program at Yale. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Energy Economics from Renmin University of China, complemented by an exchange semester in Applied Economics at UC Davis. Her research focuses on the intersection of environmental economics and climate policy, with a particular emphasis on carbon pricing and power market reforms. Hongyu possesses extensive experience in policy modeling, having contributed to national-level projects concerning renewable energy quotas and power system optimization.
Beyond her academic work, Hongyu has gained practical insights through energy consulting internships and field research on rural revitalization in Tibet. Outside of her studies, she is an active volleyball player and enjoys traveling and painting.
