Gargee Kalyankar

Gargee Kalyankar is a Master’s student in the Department of Economics at Yale University. She completed her B.A. in Economics from Sophia College, Mumbai University, with a 9.73 CGPA. As an undergraduate she participated in the Excellence in Arts Programme, co-authoring multiple research papers on the gig economy, oligopoly markets, Japan's economic stagnation, and food politics.

Professionally, Gargee has nearly two years of experience as a Research Associate at NielsenIQ, where she analyzed large-scale quantitative data to decode consumer preferences. She completed a research internship within the Economics and Finance vertical at NITI Aayog, evaluating policies to raise India's FLPR and contributing to the State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC). Additionally, she worked as an Equity Research Intern at HPCL, analyzing mutual funds and REITs to construct strategic investment portfolios. Driven by a commitment to social impact, she has also volunteered extensively across community development and healthcare initiatives in India.

Her interests lie at the intersection of international economics, development, and public policy. She is particularly focused on applying rigorous quantitative research methodologies and data analytics to design scalable interventions, evaluate institutional policies, and analyze global market dynamics. Beyond research, Gargee is a state-level chess player and a trained practitioner of Indian classical music and the harmonium.
